The origins of Servizi Italia date back to 1986, when two partners established a company operating in the areas of design, construction and installation of laundries, as well as signing linen washing contracts with public bodies (including linen hire).
In the 90s, the Company followed an expansion strategy through take-overs and interests in companies operating in the sector of industrial laundries, with the purpose of strengthening its presence in Italy and specialising in the hospital sector.
In particular, with this strategy Servizi Italia strengthened its presence in central and north-eastern Italy (Lazio, Veneto and Emilia-Romagna).
From 2000 to 2002, with the take-over and subsequent merger by incorporation of the companies S.E.L.O.M. S.p.A. of Genoa and S.O.F. Servizi Ospedalieri Fiorentini S.p.A. of Florence, the company widened its production platform to respond to the needs of customers in Liguria and Tuscany.
During 2002 Servizi Italia was taken over by Coopservice S.Coop.p.A.. This transaction was a profound change in the company’s evolution because it allowed it to consolidate its position in the reference sector through commercial and operative synergies with a group strongly rooted in the sector of hospital services all over Italy.
In recent years, in particular, Servizi Italia has undergone a restructuring process accompanied by strong investments especially in laundry plants, sterilisation stations and skilled staff and it has consolidated its presence in the north of Italy with the take over and subsequent merger by incorporation in the Lavanderia Meccanica Friulana S.p.A company and the take over of the company branch of the I.L.A.T industrial laundries of Caleppio (Milan).
On 4 April 2007 the Company was listed on the Expandi Borsa Italiana S.p.A. segment.
At the end of 2007 the Company purchased 50% of A.M.G. S.r.l, company with registered office in Busca, in the province of Cuneo, and operating in the sector of industrial laundries. This take over is part of the development plan for the Piedmont region which is a high potential area for the washing and hire market in Italy because of the low percentage of ancillary activities to hospital services outsourced by local hospitals.
On 16 October 2008 Servizi Italia S.p.A. signed the closing agreement for buying 75% of Padana Everest S.r.l., with headquarters in Travagliato (BS) and operating in the sector of industrial laundries.
Take-overs gave rise to important synergies for Servizi Italia, which has become an industrial group also in terms of cross-selling opportunities on long-term contracts signed by sister companies or subsidiaries, widening the customer portfolio and further strengthening its leading position in the consolidation process of the sector with a market share in the Italian hospital sector that rose up to 25.7% in 2008.
On 18 june 2009 Servizi Italia received the attribution of STAR qualification by Borsa Italiana S.p.A., the Italian stock exchange company.
Today, the Servizi Italia Group, which has continuously proven to be a reference partner for Italian health authorities and hospitals, works by relying on a top level production platform to ensure the provision of services complying with all customers’ requirements throughout Italy: 11 industrial laundries, 6 sterilization centres, 10 surgical installations sterilization centres and 110 warehouses.
